Western Illinois University and its Rocky mascot are well represented at this weekend’s Festival of Trees, held in downtown Macomb.
This is the seventh year for the annual event, sponsored by the MDH Development Council. In addition to holiday trees, there will be displays of wreaths and table toppers as well as contests, entertainment and a raffle.
Among the trees is “Rocky Roads” tree, decorated by Sheila Ogle, a life specialist at Cathy Early State Farm Insurance. Early, a member of WIU’s Board of Trustees, is also the sponsor for the tree.
This year’s Festival of Trees event is being held in the West Central Illinois Arts Center, on the east side of the Macomb square. Admission is $3 and children ages 12 and under are admitted free.
Money raised will help with the purchase of two video broncoscopes for surgical services at MDH.
The schedule for this year is:
• Friday, Nov. 30 – Noon – 7 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 1 – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Sunday, Dec. 2 – Noon – 5 p.m.
